Guitar practice log
A simple way to keep a guitar practice log: what to practice each day, a free printable chart, and an app that keeps the log for you.
A 25-minute guitar practice routine
| Warm up (5 min) | Chromatic finger exercise (1-2-3-4) up and down the neck, slowly and cleanly. |
| Chords (5–10 min) | The week's chord changes, one minute per pair, counting how many clean changes you make. |
| Song or piece (10–15 min) | The strumming or picking pattern alone first, then with the chords. |
| Play along (5 min) | Play a song you know with a recording. |
Short daily sessions build calluses without sore fingertips.
What to write in the log
- The date and how many minutes.
- What was practiced: the scale, the piece and the bars.
- How it went, and anything to ask the teacher.
